“Neeta and 20 characterless fellows”
<!–[if !supportEmptyParas]–> <!–[endif]–>
“Neeta and 20 characterless fellows”, is an imaginary story of a very studious young girl, determined to succeed in her life. This story revolves around Neeta and her 20 funny classmates who try to ruin her life. This story is her unexpected journey of fun, love, romance, sorrow, hatred and competition.
I, as an amateur author, tried my level best to keep this story simple and witty. However, each chapter would be released at the end of every week. The very fact that this story is very ubiquitous makes me worried. I would like to state that this story bears no resemblance to any individual, and is purely imaginary. If in any case, if the story resembles to you, then I would like to request you to be patient till the end of the story…:)
CHAPTER-1
“MY PROUD DAUGHTER”
SCENE: 1
As soon as she closed her eyes to pray, Neeta could smell the morning breakfast.”Ahhaaa dosa”, she told herself, and the next moment her mouth was flooded with saliva. She felt a pinch of guilt for having thought about something else while praying to god. So she apologized to god, slapped her cheeks twice, caught her ears once and then continued with her prayer. She was afraid that if she didn’t pray with high concentration, God would punish her by reducing marks in her examinations. This is one of the characteristics with which you can determine a determined topper in those colleges where success is a direct measure of the marks obtained.
Her grandfather, Mr. Seetha ramiah was watching all her actions with a cup of tea in his hand. Being a person born in a family, which prefers tradition to life, watching people pray was an ordinary scene. But still, he continued watching her till his vision blurred with tears. He felt a lump in his throat. Yes, he was happy and proud. Neeta had always made her family members proud for the very reason that she grew up as a perfect traditional girl who oils her hair regularly, prays to god, respects elders, follows the customs and above all-stays away from boys! Neeta-Seetha ramiah’s Granddaughter (That’s how everyone in their colony know Neeta), one of the most sincere, diligent and hard working girl in the entire family is going to attend her first day of a prestigious college. She was declared to be the highest rank holder, and second to none in her Intermediate College. The choice of technical branch was obvious. For a student, who is just out of a corporate intermediate college in Andhra Pradesh, it is very obvious to elect a branch, which is famous and is most talked about. Parents hardly make any or no efforts to find out the job prospects, the demand, and the scope of electives. They choose the most talked about branch, and dream of their wards becoming a Software Engineer. The choice of software engineering isn’t because it promises wonderful job prospects; it is because everyone talks about it these days. Mr. Raja Ram, neeta’s father was no exception. He informed Neeta that she was going to take “Electronics and Communication Engineering” and Neeta was all ready. Added, the aunty next door told Neeta that all the toppers preferred “Electronics and Communication Engineering”, and her son “Uday” also joined the same branch the previous year in the same college, So Neeta was a bit happy to know that she already knew Uday. She wanted to top again; Now she could approach him for all her doubts, and make her way easy. So Mr. Raja Ram, neeta’s father did not require any efforts to convince Neeta. Neeta has always been a topper, and so she always preferred to be with toppers.
SCENE: 2
In Krishna nagar, Raja ram’s family was well known for two things. His daughter and his Scooty.Raja Ram owned a red color scooty, which never crossed 25 kmph, and he was very happy with that. If anybody tried to make fun of his scooty, he always used to pose a question,” Can you cross more than 20 kmph in Hyderabad? , My scooty can go more than 20 kmph, and I am proud of it”. He used to boast that his scooty is known for it’s disc brakes, and hardly anyone in Krishna nagar bothered to test them. Even if there exists a slight possibility of that scooty having disc brakes; with such a rock bottom speed they were sure that raja ram would never need them.
Neeta slowly sat on the scooty after her father started it. As soon as she heard the sound of scooty, lakshmi, neeta’s mother came out and kissed neeta. She cried aloud, “Naa bangaaru thalli”. Soon after some cryings and tatas, neeta and her father were already heading towards “Vasavi College of Engineering”…!
CHAPTER-2
“HER FIRST IMPRESSIONS”
25 minutes after the departure Raja Ram was already surprised with what he saw and was feeling as if he had left hyderabad, but no way.On one side, he witnessed an area so clean, so green that for a minute he was happy with the fact that his daughter would be studying at a place so serene. But on the other side, there were more number of butterflies in his stomach that the number of people attending a job fair in hyderabad. It was not because of the fact that the clean and green area was a cantonment which surrounds the college. It was not even because of the fact that the location of the college was very far off.But above all, it was because of the fact that till date neeta only studied at girl’s school and college. She was never and ever exposed to the hungry and haunting eyes of teenage boys.Neeta and her father had enough experiences at krishna nagar.Krishna nagar was full of such boys and whenever neeta was out of their house, it were these eyes which were embarassing, bothering and hurting neeta’s father more than neeta. After all, neeta was the most beautiful girl in krishna nagar(krishna nagar underlined…! )
Finally, they reached vasavi.Neeta’s next home for the coming four years. The college was not so great as neeta thought it would be and wanted it to be.Moreover, it remotely resembled the college and collegians in her favourite movie “Kuch Kuch hota hai”.No skirts, no long haired boys, no sports bikes and people were not even drolling over neeta (As in krishna nagar where she was considered to be the most beautiful lady, but here people didn’t even care her.Something she never experienced and that was the first time where her ego came into the picture and got hurt the first day) ; She even saw an old Hero Honda cd 100.This was an object which caught neeta’s attention the most.It was not at all normal as neeta never saw a vehicle much older than her father’s, and this one was in an engineering college where people are more fond of their bikes and wardrobe than anything else on this earth.
After that neeta didn’t notice anything else as she always had this habit of walking with her head down. You see, a typical walk of a typical studious girl is always straight, and the head has an angle of depression of 58.5 degrees.
Why is it that a head of a studious girl always points towards the earth? Must be because the more the angle of depression the more studious they are or will be.
(Back to the story….)
Within no time they reached the induction area, and were seated; Russsssshhhhhhh came a guy with his friend who didn’t even apologize neeta and her father for stepping on their toes, and sitting just beside them.Very soon as the two friends took their seats, the shorter one of them started expressing his disbelief to his friend who seemed reticent and stable unlike this tiny tot who was shaking as if he was next only to Michael Jackson in this world.”556 rank ra…and look where I am.Don’t I deserve to be in a better place? .Caste kehte caste?…Can’t they provide reservation based on the economic status of people.Everyone wants caste; Even girls want grooms who belong to their caste ra…Are they nuts? Aren’t people belonging to other castes have equal rights? even they are human beings bey….Reddys, brahmins kehte….dhekh …the plight of this country ! “.Neeta was dumbstuck. Her first impressions about this tiny tot was that he could have been a one of those lucky few who struggled to get into the college somehow……..and now he turned out to be the topper of the college. She never and ever witnessed anyone who stood above her, if they did they didn’t look so springish like this fella….Raja Ram already raised his eye brows and said to himself, “Do persons like these two deserve to be in a prestigious college like this ? And 556 rank in EAMCET? everything must be a fluke”.His self-assurance was followed by a “don’t give a damn to these fellas” look to this daughter. The self-assurance…err…father assurance came as a breather for neeta, an assurance which partly satisfied her ego
